Rik Thesing learned the tricks of the trade in the kitchen of Ron Blaauw** as well as in De Bokkedoorns**, where he worked as chef de partie under Menno Post.
After he put The Bishop in Leiden on the map as chef, he now returned to his first love: Amsterdam. More specifically, the exact place where he once started his career, Utrechtsestraat 33, is where he now opened his own place. A restaurant from Amsterdammers, for Amsterdammers – and for everyone else who appreciates good food. We think that delicious food is timeless, so you will not find any pretentious formats and hypes at ACE.
“I only want to do what we feel like doing. Make food that we enjoy. You can never stand out if you steal someone else’s ideas. My food is honest. I prefer to have four delicious things on a plate, than a plate full of structure and colors because you know it is going to do well on social media. In the end, everything is about flavor, which has to be so good that people leave the place with a smile on their face.”
